Mission

The GLOBSEC Policy Institute is a policy-oriented think-tank dealing with foreign policy and international environment. The Institute builds upon the experiences of the Central European Policy Institute that existed until 2015 and the Centre for European Affairs (CEA). While being an integral part of the GLOBSEC organisation it focuses on research which is relevant to decision-makers, business leaders and all the concerned citizens. Its ambition is to help people make sense of the world and the world makes sense to people – through better policies. The Institute wants to secure impact so that values of the GLOBSEC organisation – liberal and democratic order in the transatlantic world – are deeply embedded in the agenda of governments.

Goals

  • To produce quality research leading to policy recommendations for European decision- makers.
  • To facilitate open and honest discussions on challenging topics concerning Europe.
  • To build fruitful relations with scholars, policymakers, business leaders and civil society representatives across Europe and the transatlantic.
  • To spread our research and policy recommendations through our flagship events—GLOBSEC Forum and Tatra Summit and through regular publications and smaller public events.

Research Areas

Slovak Foreign Policy Association, Bratislava

The Slovak Foreign Policy Association is a foreign policy think-tank based in Bratislava, Slovakia. Since 1993 our mission has been to conduct high-quality, independent research and, on the basis of that research, to provide innovative practical recommendations for policy- and decision-makers. In addition, we seek to provide an independent arena in which critical issues can be examined and debated. We produce periodical and non-periodical publications covering various areas of foreign policy and international relations. We also organize international expert seminars and conferences and help foster expert discussion on international relations and Slovak foreign policy. We aim to create a favorable international relations environment in which the new generation of Slovak experts can develop, and to stimulate the interest of the wider Slovak public in global events so they can gain a deeper understanding of the importance of foreign policy and its links to domestic policy.
